We are now looking for a temporary food inspector to Livsmiljö Gävle, the Building and Environment department. Here we work on issues that make Gävle more beautiful, safer, and more sustainable. Our work has a significant impact on the daily lives of Gävle residents – from safe food to secure environments.

You will belong to the Food and Permits group, which is responsible for food controls and inspections to ensure safe food and safe drinking water, as well as to prevent consumers from being misled. The group also works with processing and supervision according to the Alcohol Act, Tobacco Act, Lottery Act, and the Act on the Trade of Non-Prescription Medicines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a temporary food inspector, you play an important role in contributing to a safe and secure food environment in Gävle. You work both independently and together with competent colleagues and maintain close dialogue with entrepreneurs and other stakeholders. Your work directly contributes to preventing food poisoning and strengthening consumer protection.

Your tasks include:

• conducting food controls, inspections, and audits
• processing cases and making decisions according to applicable legislation
• providing information and advice in the food area
• following up on deviations and taking action if necessary
• contributing to the development of work methods and control methods

You report to the group manager and collaborate closely with colleagues in food, environment, and permits.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference and thrives in a role where regulatory authority is combined with dialogue and collaboration.

The following is required for the position:

• university education in the food area, such as food engineer, food agronomist, nutritionist, or environmental and health protection inspector, or other education that the employer deems relevant for the position
• driver's license B
• good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both spoken and written
• ability to make objective and factual assessments in the role of authority person

It is an advantage if you have experience in food control or similar supervisory work.
